Sometimes fandom confuses me. I love Torchwood with all my heart, and there's a lot of great Jack/Ianto fic out there. But for every good one there seems to be three fic in which Jack turns into a caricature of a Harlequin hero and Ianto have to cry about almost anything.

I don't mind happy Janto, I don't mind Jack being exclusive with Ianto, I don't even mind Jack telling Ianto that he loves him. But in moderation.

Is it the fact that we finally have a canon gay pairing that brings out all the smarm and swoon stories? I've heard there's a lot of them in the QAF fandom as well.

Or has all the good writers in the SGA fandom spoiled me?
