kriscat: (Can I Play? (Dolimir))
[personal profile] kriscat

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] maggiez for thinking about me. I'm sorry it took me this long to post it, RL got in the way. Some of these movies are Swedish and therefore probably unknown to most of you.

Total number of films I own on DVD/video

I hope you realize that just finding them at all in the various storage places in the house would take me a day or two. So, I'll just say more than fifty and move on...

The last film I bought
The Incredibles: I just had to have it.

The last film I watched
At home:
Så som i himmelen: Called 'As It Is in Heaven' (International: English title) or
'As in Heaven' (USA) Was nominated for an academy award. I love it.

At the cinema:
Masjävlar: Acording to imdb also called Dalecarlians. It's sad not more people get the chance to see this one. This summery is taken from the imdb site: The story revolves around three sisters who grew up together in a small village in the province of Dalecarlia. The youngest sister, Mia, who left home at an early age for a bigcity life, returns to join the celebration of her father's 70th birthday. At the community centre the party starts. Old conflicts are brought to life, the pace accelerates, and pretty soon it's not only the cat who's in trouble.

Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me

Sagan om Karl Bertil Jonssons Julafton: I think it's out on VHS in britain under the name Christopher's Christmas Mission. A short animated film shown on every Christmas Eve here in Sweden. I guess it's our 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'.  14 year old Karl Bertil takes after Robin Hood and steals wealthy people's christmas presents and gives them to the poor. check more at idmb It's sweet and funny, with a bit of satire and social conscience thrown in for good meassure.

Superman: There's not words to describe how I felt when I finally got to see Superman. I'd heard about it of course, but being born 79, I kinda missed the oportunity to see it in a cinema. At this time, (late 80's - early 90's) finding anything Sci-fi related on video in Sweden was like finding a needle in a haystack. Then one of the two (thats right, *two*) TV channels we had showed it after midnight one wednesday night. I had school the next day, but I didn't care. I went to bed at my usual time, set the alarm clock, thanked my lucky star both me and the TV was upstairs and my father's beedroom downstairs, got up and watched the film with awe. And it made me believe a man can fly.

Bröderna Lejonhjärta: (The brothers Lionheart) I love Astrid Lindgrens book, and despite it's age and very bad looking dragon, I love the movie too. It's about love, death, good and evil and how you sometimes have to take a stand and fight for something you believe in even if it scares you. I doubt it's possible to find the movie with english subtitles, but try to find the book. It's worth the trouble.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home: It has everything a movie could ask for. An unbelivable plot,  lame but kinda funny jokes, Kirk and Spock, and of course, whales!

Author! Author! : This is my feel good movie. I love it to bits, and I really don't know why. We just clicked. ;)

Five people to tag: I might have to friend more people to find someone who hasn't done this yet. ;) If someone of have already done it, I apologize.

I'm going to tag:

[livejournal.com profile] peppery_lime to find out if any Danish movies make the cut.

[livejournal.com profile] cookatwork because I haven't seen you around LJ for quite some time now.

[livejournal.com profile] christinefic because I miss your posts about... well, everything.

And [livejournal.com profile] joeyrz and [livejournal.com profile] erinslashslut, because they're Joey and Erin.

I did this one over here, sweetness. And no, actually, they didn't. En Kort En Lang wasn't out before I left, and I didn't have a DVD player yet, even if it had been, so I wouldn't have bought it 'cause VHS doesn't work the same between the two, and I only got to see part of it and it wasn't as important to me as the five I DID pick.

Holy Run-on Sentance, Batman!

LOL. You and Erin are both authors of some of the first slash stories I ever read back at the old Joxerotica archive so I tend to put you both in a class of your own. ;) Don't feel forced to count movies. Just estimate. God knows I did.
