And this is the reason I've actually chosen to not meet actors/authors I like and why I so rarely read their blogs.:( Because once I've seen them be asshats or make statements like these or worse, (like during racefail) I have a hard time enjoying their work without flashing back to the actors/authors comments.

FYI, I don't mind that Gabaldon don't like fanfiction of her works. That is her right. So is asking fandom to stop.  But I don't like being compared to thieves, stalkers, and rapists. Just, no.

Wow. That was...a very unpleasant read. I haven't read anything by this author, but I have to admit I'd be very reluctant to do so after reading that.

I adored her books i my teens, (I also went through, like, at least 5 harlequins a week at that point. So I don't think you can trust me on the quality of her work. :P) and I still have a fondness for the first couple. I think she was one of the first timetravel novels that hit big. I know that nowadays its a whole genre in romance books. Her work is IMO better than most romance novels, but her sixth wasn't as good as her first if you get what I mean... What really sucks is that I liked her funny side. I hate it when someone who has made me laugh (or at least snigger) turns out to be an asshat. :(
